In this review, It’s pretty obvious from the L300′s case that this is a budget machine. There’s none of the glossy finishes that you’ll find on Toshiba’s more expensive laptops. The chassis is solid and the overall design didn’t feel cheap. Weighing in about 5.7 lbs is usually average for a 15.4-inch laptop. The Toshiba Satellite L300 hides dirt well, but you can start to see some scratches from normal wear and tear.
The plastic design seemed durable and didn’t show any signs of flex. The hinge was even stiff and the screen stayed in place. The L300 laptop comes with a good array of features for the price, but seems like an awkward sized notebook for business use, unless it stayed in your office.

The L300′s keyboard is also very good. The layout is sensible and the keys are not only large, but also have good travel. You should not get any problems when typing. Add to this a roomy trackpad with responsive buttons and you’ve got a usable combination that’s comfortable for both work and fun.
Connectivity is also pretty decent. Satellite L300 three USB ports, an ExpressCard slot and a D-Sub VGA connector for hooking it up to an external screen. Naturally Wi-Fi is present, but sadly there’s no Bluetooth support. You do get a webcam built in to the top of the screen for making video calls over the Internet.
The speakers on the Satellite L300 aren’t the best, but remember this notebook is targeted toward business use and it’s not an entertainment or gaming notebook. The speakers are located under the screen of the notebook by the hinge. Music sounds fine when played at normal levels, but the louder it gets the more distorted it becomes. The volume dial on the front side is a convenient feature too.
Like most budget laptops, the Satellite L300 relies on an Intel integrated graphics chip for 3D support, so isn’t going to win any prizes when it comes to gaming performance. In our 3DMark 06 test it posted a score of 530. This means that you’ll be able to play older games as long as the detail is turned down, but the frame rate in the latest 3D titles will be horribly slow.
Unfortunately battery life wasn’t an area that the Satellite L300 excelled in either. With the screen brightness set to 50 percent, wireless enabled, and the power profile set to Toshiba’s Power Saver the L300 managed 3 hours and 45 minutes before It needs to be plugged into the mains. If you maximized its powers settings, you’re likely going to get about 1 hour and 15 minutes online time before it need to be plugged into the mains. In real-life situations you’re likely to get significantly longer, but it’s still more of a sprinter than a long-distance runner. Anyway, we doubt the L300 laptop will appeal to those who are constantly on the road — at 2.49kg it’s a tad on the heavy side.
Conclusion
On this review, Toshiba Satellite L300 has a good performance. It’s very suitable for your daily business use. It will do your entire job easily. L300 also has a solid design. With low budget, you can still get an expensive look laptop. Its widescreen also a good plus. You can watch your favorite movies and videos or even your business presentation clearly. I don’t recommend you to play games on L300. Toshiba L300 laptop doesn’t have a long run battery life. So, you would like to use it for home stay laptop or you would have to buy extra battery. It’s quite heavy though.
